The Syrian Refugee Life Study (S-RLS) is an in-depth research initiative aimed at understanding the economic, social, and health challenges faced by Syrian refugees and exploring effective interventions to improve their lives.
UC Berkeley, in partnership with the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR), subcontracted Mindset to conduct the comprehensive fieldwork, administering detailed surveys to approximately 5,000 Syrian refugees—70% from Jordanian host communities and 30% from the camps of Zaatari and Azraq. Mindset is responsible for gathering extensive data on economic outcomes, health, education, social attitudes, and behavioral traits, ensuring the study captures a holistic picture of refugees' experiences and needs.
Through rigorous data collection and adherence to ethical research practices, Mindset is helping to generate actionable insights into the economic integration of refugees and the long-term effects of interventions like the Norwegian Refugee Council’s urban shelter program. Through this collaboration, Mindset is contributing to evidence-based policymaking and efforts to improve the lives of refugees and their host communities.
