WFP's School Feeding Programme: Impact Evaluation and Data Collection for the Social and Behavioral Change Communication (SBCC) Strategy

WFP partnered with Mindset to conduct comprehensive surveys and evaluations for its School Feeding Programme, which seeks to enhance students' nutrition, health, and learning outcomes while empowering communities by employing Jordanian and Syrian workers in productive kitchens.

Mindset carried out a Child Survey for Baseline and Endline Impact Evaluation of the programme and led data collection efforts to support its Social and Behavioral Change Communication (SBCC) Strategy, as outlined below:

1.     Baseline and Endline Child Surveys
Mindset conducted the Early Grade Mathematics Assessment (EGMA) and Early Grade Reading Assessment (EGRA) to measure the programme's influence on children's cognitive, literacy, and numerical skills. Through in-person interviews with students in grades 3–5 across 474 schools, our team ensured data accuracy and reliability, with baseline assessments completed in 2022 and endline evaluations in May 2023.

2.     Data Collection for the SBCC Strategy
Mindset collaborated with WFP to gather critical insights into nutritional practices, knowledge, and attitudes among students benefiting from the School Feeding Programme. Over four rounds of data collection in Madaba, Shouna, and Mafraq, our team conducted surveys with 3,900 students across 203 schools. These findings provided a comprehensive understanding of the programme's social and behavioral impact, directly informing WFP’s SBCC strategy and communication campaigns aimed at improving children’s health and nutrition outcomes.
