Here is How We Safely Collect Data During COVID-19
As a social research firm, we regularly conduct surveys of thousands of respondents in the MENA region -- surveys that typically include face-to-face interviews in a respondent’s home. But then the COVID-19 pandemic triggered both government restrictions and public health recommendations that made in-person interviewing impossible. Virtual focus groups, phone calls, and a lot of personal protective equipment: this is what social research looks like in the age of COVID-19.
While some projects could be paused for the pandemic, others, like our longitudinal study of adolescents in Jordan for GAGE-ODI, could not. Mindset quickly pivoted our monitoring and evaluation tools to safely continue collecting data for GAGE.
