The Syrian Refugee Crisis: A View from Jordan
Mindset is excited to announce that on December 7th, we presented our research at Innovations for Poverty Action’s webinar, The Syrian Refugee Crisis: A View from Jordan. The webinar is part of a mini-series dedicated to COVID-19 and Forced Displacement in the Global South, brought together by IPA, the Center for Effective Global Action (CEGA), and the Joint Data Center on Forced Displacement (JDC).
The webinar brought together innovative researchers conducting vital work about the Syrian population in Jordan. Mindset’s Research Director, Rana Samara, provided context for the Syrian refugee crisis and presented Mindset’s insights from working in the field to collect data on this vulnerable population, as well as the challenges presented by working under COVID-19. Sarah Baird (George Washington University and GAGE), Samuel Leone (UC Berkeley), and Nathaniel Young (European Bank for Reconstruction and Development) shared their findings from ongoing programs focused on Syrian refugees in Jordan. Mindset worked as a research partner on several of their projects, which address strategies around subsidized housing, the economic impacts of lockdowns, public opinion to promote socioeconomic integration of refugees, and the experience of adolescents.
